Yes, we all want to get the best deal and get as much as possible while spending as little as possible. That’s human nature. But remember, it’s a delicate balance. When I started working here in Sydney as a house painter in 1984, one of my best clients told me that there were three things I could offer my clients. He taught me that there were three key aspects to any offer. Those three aspects were: good quality, good service and good price. But then he told me that I could only offer my customers two of those three things. He even told me that I had to ask my customers which of the two they preferred.
The laws of economics prohibit paying little and getting a lot.
None of us can hope to find our way to all three things (good quality, good service, good price). It’s impossible. No company in the world wants or should want to work for free…. Or even for peanuts.
And if a Commercial painting contractors Sydney company pays its painters very little, the same law applies to it. Its painters, paid only $14 an hour, know only what a $14 an hour painter should know, and produce only what a $14 an hour painter can produce, because the best, most experienced, most highly productive and professional painters rightly insist on being paid more. Many painters in the U.S. make more than $20, $30 and even $50 an hour. That’s a fact. So think twice before hiring the guy who promised to do a great job for half the price compared to other painters.
This economic scenario applies not only to painters, but to all professions.
It applies to you as well. You value the services you provide, and you won’t give them away at a loss. Why would you do that? All other professionals feel the same way you do.
There are many highly trained contractors in the Sydney area who care about quality and service and offer their work at a “reasonable” price, if not the lowest. Many of them have walked the ladder for years and learned the profession by trial and error. They decided to learn how to do business the right way and got into serious business.
Many of them were trained as paint and coatings engineers and are members of such reputable organizations as the SSPC Society of Protective Coatings, Commercial painting contractors Sydney . Many of them have been trained by the NCCER National Center for Construction Education and Research, which applies specifically to painters. They can’t be cheap contractors.
They can’t because they know too much about what goes into quality work.
They also know what can go wrong in a job. These are things that many idealistic, inexperienced and cheap aspiring entrepreneurs just don’t know about. So an experienced and reliable contractor will almost always cost more than a younger or inexperienced contractor. Sometimes a cheap contractor doesn’t know what he’s getting into or what he’s getting his client into.
You have to make some decisions. You MUST decide which two (2) key aspects are most important to you. Then consider those two key aspects and what you want to accomplish with a particular painting or coating project, and then look for a painting company that can do both of those things for you.
Do you want a good price quote from a painting company that will offer you good service?
That’s fine, just make sure you don’t berate the contractor if the quality doesn’t meet your expectations. Do you want a good price and good quality? That’s fine, too. Just make sure you don’t call the contractor three times a day to put pressure on him because deadlines weren’t met, his painters were rude, his crew didn’t show up, or he just doesn’t have time to take every call you make. After all, he probably didn’t include that in his offer and won’t charge you for it. Do you prefer good quality and good service? That’s fine. Just be willing to pay a little more for it.
Most reliable and serious Commercial painting contractors Sydney companies can offer you any combination of these two basic aspects. If you don’t get the job done, it won’t be fair to you or the painting company.
